Pottery-- Hand building and Wheel thrown!
Classes fill up fast, it doesn't take but a few calls. I need only the materials fee and first week's tuition to save your seat!
Pottery on the wheel
Whether you've never learned/mastered CENTERING a wobbly ball of clay on the wheel, or you have thrown majestic cylinders and wonderful bowls-- you will enjoy just setting aside your own focus time, one-on-one instruction, getting to CENTER, and getting your hands back in the CLAY! I have 3 POTTERY WHEELS in my studio, at present. My fastest time to help three students to find CENTER, has been 1.75 hours - let's see if we can beat that! This photo is of a student, Megan's first time on the wheel, she centered, threw a tea cup, heat lamp dried it to leather hard, and she's trimming like a pro.
We start with cylinders, candle holders and tea cups. Then once mastered on cylinders, we move on to learning pitchers, bowls and plates.
Class size is limited: THREE STUDENTS for a minimum 2 month course for beginners.
Experienced students may get by with a 1 month class, but it's challenging to complete anything within 2-3 weeks of wet clay time and only have one week to glaze.
This two month course consists of 6 weeks in wet clay and 2 weeks in glaze time.
Each week, students get 2hrs for Instruction & 2 free hours for Open Studio time to practice and perfect. This is extremely important and included in the class, attendance is vital for both Instructed hours and Open Studio hours, so you can monitor your projects drying rate and check for cracks/repairs.
Tuition: $80/month + $25 materials and firing fee, for a total of $185.
Yes, you may pay by the month or by the week if needed.
To let me know you're committed, just register with the first week's tuition $20 and $25 materials fee.
It's tough to find Pottery wheel instruction any lower than this --without a long commute.
